The purpose of Proverbs is for the reader to grow and become wise and understanding, and if they are already wise, then they will become even wiser. If the meaning of a proverb is not readily apparent, we mustn’t give up. We must be willing to be patient with ourselves and the proverb and diligently meditate upon it, taking into consideration all the aspects of the text until we are able to draw out the depth and richness of its meaning.
